Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT)
Manual Lymph Drainage

MLD stimulates a weakened lymphatic system by pushing the stagnant fluid to be reabsorbed through the venous system, and helps develop collateral channels through which the lymph fluid can begin to flow.

Compression Bandaging

Our Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDP) was developed in Europe by Dr. Emil Vodder, over a quarter of a century ago, just prior to World War II, in the 1930's. Combined Decongestive Therapy consists of three integral components consisting of manual lymph drainage (MLD), compression bandaging and exercises including skin care. Combined Decongestive Therapy is performed by a licensed therapist certified as a manual lymph drainage therapist (CMLDT) under the supervision of a licensed physician. CDT is an accepted standard of care and is taught at the Vodder School in Austria, and in Germany. Our therapists are certified in the Vodder technique through The Vodder School, The American Academy of Lymphatic Studies, Klose Training & Consulting, Casley-Smith or the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy.

When correctly wrapped the short-stretch bandages delivers a resting pressure on the tissue and the vascular system making them the preferred compression bandage in the management of lymphedema.

Remedial Exercises, Breathing, Skin Care and Hygiene

This further promotes venous and lymphatic flow by activating the muscle and joint pumps. Excellent skin cleansing with antibacterial washes and neutral balanced PH lotions will help eliminate bacterial and fungal growth. This will minimize the possibility of repeated attacks of cellulitis and/or lymphangitis.

Wound Care Management

Wound care dressings and other topical wound care dressings are applied in conjunction with compression therapy to assist in the healing of venous stasis ulcers and other chronic non-healing wounds.
